Zootopia: do you have the courage to try something new?

If you like cartoons, then you should not miss Walt Disney’s latest animated movie Zootopia. Earning approximately $700M globally, it is the best Disney animated movie in the past decade. Left alone its amazing story development, beautiful art/design, rich characterization, and outstanding animation, it is not a movie for kids, but one for adults to learn from. One lesson is to have the encourage to try everything.

Our main actress, Judy Hopps, a relentlessly perky little adorable rabbit whose ambition is to be a cop. As what we can imagine, a bunny wants to be a cop in a prey-predator mixed world is like sending a chicken to a tiger. No one supports her, not even her parents, two bunny farmers who have never left their home town. We all have the moment that the whole world seems to go against us, right?

When Judy got into Zootopia Police Academy, she almost failed in everything. Not tall enough, not strong enough, not fast enough….Sometimes, your faith start to shake and you think you might never get there, but Judy didn’t give up; she simply worked much harder than others. Like what the song sings  “I keep falling down/I keep on hitting the ground/I always get up now to see what's next.” After her hard work, Judy became the top student that graduated that year.

But it is not yet the happy ending. After Judy became one of the cops in Zootopia, Judy is small enough to be negligible among all the other giant colleagues e.g., buffalo, hippo, polar bear. No important work was assigned to her, but it does not stop her from getting the job done at her maximum capacity nor stop her from pursuing her dream, to become a real cop. “I won’t give up, no I won’t give in /I wanna try even though I could fail.”

All colleages are bigger than Judy. Judy ended up being a meter-maid.

When you try hard enough, the whole world will make its way for you. Eventually, Judy earned her reputation and became the best cop in Zootopia. And life goes on, there will be new challenges, new dreams, new failures, and new unknowns.

of course, we can't avoid mentioning Judy's best partner, Nick.

As we grow up, dreams we used to have when you were young seems unachievable, you seem to question if you still have the ability to reach it. But don’t let failure get to you, the only one that can fail you is yourself. So take on your hope, take on your faith, have the courage to try new everything and become something new.
