Cocktails and nails, 2 things you need to have this summer!

Hey, it is getting hot! What’s the best thing when the heat wave hits? Yes, it is a refreshingly cool cocktail. We all enjoy cocktails, and we love nails. These two are the best things for the summer. MelodySusie has specially picked 5 most popular drinks and their lovely matching nail arts for you. 1. Mojito
Mojito is the most famous Cuban drink and it is well known because of Ernest Hemingway’s "My mojito in La Bodeguita, My daiquiri in El Floridita" when he was living in Cuba. It is made of five ingredients: white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime juice, sparkling water, and mint. Mojito nail is refreshing, like a cool freeze in the hot summer.

UV and LED gels, do you really know the difference?

We all use nail polishes and some of us use it on a very frequent basis. We know the specific nail colors, we know the big and small brands, we know how to make sophisticated nail arts, but do we know the basic science behind it, such as the difference between the UV and LED gel polishes?

If you search online trying to figure out the question, you are probably getting something like “molecular weight, elongated molecular structure, cross-linking agents…”not everyone graduated with the Chemistry Degree to understand these terms, right? Here, MelodySusie would use the simplest way to explain the 3 key points that you need to know about the basics of the difference between UV and LED gel polishes. If you think the words are too complicated, then just look at the pictures and you will get it all!

First of all, LED is not a special human produced light, it is simply a part of UV light. The wavelength of LED is narrower than UV, meaning it can cure fewer gel polishes than UV.

Second, the key difference is what is inside LED and UV gel polish.
- Gel polishes are added with a chemical called “photoinitiators” (this term is totally unimportant) that can be “activated” with certain light. In order words, your gel polish gets hardened when it is activated.
- UV gels are added with the photoinitiators that get hardened with UV light, and LED gels with LED light as they prefer different lights.

Third, because of the special characteristics of the UV and LED photoinitiators, UV and LED lamps have different features:
- UV lamp cures most gels but takes longer.
- LED lamp cures only LED gels but much faster.
- New generation of UV/LED combo lamp cures both gels at a fastest speed.

The new-generation of the nail lamp technology is the smart UV/LED combo lamp. It combines the advantages of both UV and LED lamps with broader application and faster and more efficient speed. It also cures more professionally. If you like to do manicure at home, then you should definitely experience the UV/LED combo technology that will work for all kinds of gels!
